What's better than shopping hundreds of designer pieces at ahhmazing prices? Shopping those pieces and knowing that your money is going to a good cause! You can do just that at Housing Works Thrift Shops and then officially call yourself a retail activist. (P.S. thrift shopping is the most sustainable way to shop, so you're helping the environment too).
Fashion For Action is an annual fundraising event hosted by Housing Works to help raise money to combat HIV/AIDS as well as homelessness. Patricia and the ArtFashion team have participated in this initiative before, and we were more than happy to do so again!
ArtFashion members Michael and Barbie visited the Housing Works Chelsea location in preparation for the event kickoff to style mannequins with a bit of Pat Field flair. They used merchandise exclusively from the Housing Works racks, which consists of over $2 million in donated items.
While this year's Fashion for Action may be over, it's never too late to join the cause! Check out Housing Work's continuing advocacy initiatives and drop by a nearby location to donate any of your lightly worn clothing. People deserve second chances, shouldn't your clothes?
