Steven Wine was born in Virginia and began his art career very early with painting classes at 10 years old. After high school, he was trained as a glass blower and worked for the world-renowned glass artist Jonathan Kuhn for many years and was introduced to New York City during that employ in his 20’s. After a year in Paris in the late 80’s, he moved to New York and worked at the Heller Gallery in SoHo where he stayed for 7 years.
During a major change in careers, he opened his own “gallery” named And Bob’s Your Uncle on West 22nd Street showing off his own work and the work of about 15 New York artist who made found object art pieces. The gallery gained cult following and allowed Steven to broaden his scope into making more custom, fashion oriented pieces using fabric, metal, glass and feathers and eventually led to his current business of ABYU Lighting, a custom light fixture company with clients such as Russell Simmons, Lenny Kravitz, Sean Combs, Mark Seliger, Cartier…and Patricia Field to name a few.
